CVUT MUVS
Modern digital information system for students and lecturers at CVUT MUVS
We delivered a complete digital signage system that shows schedules, announcements, and building navigation, with a modern visual design and direct integration into internal CVUT systems.
Client and starting point
Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies (MUVS) at CVUT is a major educational institution focused on management, economics, and interdisciplinary programs. The institute needed to modernize how students and lecturers access information about current teaching, schedule changes, faculty announcements, and building orientation.
The original information channels were fragmented and static. The objective was to build a digital, dynamic, and automated system that would significantly improve clarity and user experience.
Project goals
- Display current and upcoming classes in corridors and near individual classrooms.
- Connect the system to CVUT data sources (schedules, personnel data, Usermap).
- Enable publication of MUVS announcements including multimedia content.
- Design interactive kiosks for navigation by classroom, subject, and lecturer.
- Modernize faculty visual communication and simplify content management.
Our solution
We designed and implemented a comprehensive digital information system that combines modern UI, easy content management, and full integration with internal university systems.
Step 01
Schedule panels (timers and schedules)
We created several layout types for different building zones (above doors, mezzanine, near classrooms), all designed for high readability.
- Current and upcoming classes
- Time remaining until the end of class
- Class format (lecture, seminar)
- Lecturer name and subject code
- Automatic switching between Czech and English
Step 02
Information panels with multimedia content
For announcements, we designed visually strong panels with support for text, graphics, photos, and video loops, including content planning and distribution through a simple editorial system.
- Text, graphics, photos, and video loops
- RSS-based announcements from MUVS and CVUT sources
- Scheduled publishing via simple content management
Step 03
Interactive kiosks for building orientation
Kiosks support search by classroom, subject, and lecturer. They are connected to an internal web application and adapted for touch interaction, including sleep mode and power-saving behavior.
- Search by classroom
- Search by subject
- Search by lecturer
- Touch-first interaction with automated display sleep mode
Step 04
Integration with CVUT data sources
The system is connected to current schedules, personnel data, White Book and Usermap, and internal information systems for fast data updates.
- Real-time schedule data
- Personnel database integration
- White Book and Usermap integration
- QR codes linking students directly to subject or lecturer details on mobile
Results
- Students and lecturers have immediate visibility into ongoing and upcoming classes.
- Faculty announcements are displayed automatically, clearly, and always up to date.
- Interactive kiosks significantly improved orientation in the MUVS building.
- The visual identity of the panels modernized the faculty image.
- Full CVUT data integration ensures minimal administrative overhead and high reliability.
Client reference
At MUVS, we actively use the panels mainly to make classroom operations clearer and to communicate updates and important announcements to students and lecturers. We are satisfied with their long-term reliability and low-maintenance operation, as well as with the content management process. We especially appreciate the ability to schedule exactly when specific graphics should be displayed, which significantly simplifies communication management during the semester.
One-sentence summary
For CVUT MUVS, we designed and implemented a modern digital information system that unifies schedules, announcements, and building navigation into one clear and reliable solution.
